It’s all too common; we want to be more intimate with our spouses but by the time the kids go to bed we are in total shut down mode. Pure exhaustion has sleep on your mind, and you just can’t muster up enough energy to even think of sex.
I’m here to tell you, all those years in nursing didn’t just teach me how to keep you alive, I’ve also learned a lot about the inner workings of our very intricate bodies. I want to share a few tidbits of information with you that will help you get it on more often, and boost your energy levels to boot!
The biggest thing parents are telling me that keeps them from having more sex is, that by the time they get the kids in bed, they are too tired for it.
How To Have More Energy For Sex!
Stop waiting until night time to have sex!
Squeeze in some AM love making, maybe while the kids eat breakfast, or simply hop in the shower together!
Did you know Testosterone is at its peak in the morning? And having sex produces a chemical release of Oxytocin, which is known for helping you feel love, and facilitates bonding. I like to refer to it as the “Love Doctor” because I’m corny like that. But I’m not the only one, scientists have referred to Oxytocin as the “cuddle hormone” for years!
Having an AM Passion tryst will have you feeling more connected with your partner and give you that little extra pep in your step all day long.
Start a nightly workout routine with your spouse!
Ever notice that directly after finishing a workout, you feel pumped?!
Exercise dramatically improves your circulation (blood flow) which in turn gets more oxygen throughout your body (increasing your energy). Though, most people don’t take into consideration that increased blood flow means greater sexual gains! Think about it, in order to feel sexual pleasure, the genital areas need increased blood flow, you are already half way there post workout!
Exercise also releases endorphins, but you probably already knew that from the movie Legally Blonde. These endorphins elevate your mood, actually causing a sensation of happiness and joy while also giving a big ol’ boost to your energy level.
You will even sleep better by doing this at night. Studies show that after a workout if you have something to bring you down from the “Vamped Energy” such as sexual release, you will, in turn, increase the duration of your sleep and sleep deeper.
Remember we discussed the need for increased blood flow? Well, clogged arteries do not do a great job at increasing circulation to your genital area. Cut back on saturated fats.
Also, excessive weight can actually shift the balance between estrogen and testosterone and destroy your sex drive.
Want a reason to fall in love with your fruit and veggies again?
Several fruits have been linked to increasing sexual desires and drives. Such as; blackberries and watermelon.
Though let’s not forget the new reason to eat your veggies! Iron deficiency causes fatigue, and Iron is found in high amounts in many dark leafy greens, even Broccoli!
Keep in mind, you both have long, exhausting days and start doing something about it! On days that you can, switch off on taking naps. Yes, adults need naps too sometimes. If you let each other catch a few mid-day zzZZ’s you just might find that you have more energy for each other later!
Did you know in most European countries, it is standard to leave work for 2-3 hours for a nap! And, last I checked, European’s were known for romance and passion.
Get down to your skivvies or your birthday suit and cuddle or simply lay there like that while you watch TV to wind down. You’ll find it hard for either of you to resist when you’re already “dressed” for the occasion!
Bonus Tip: Wear silk, it will not only caress your bare skin, but it feels great to touch as well. Hands glide down the fabric with ease, and he will be able to feel every part of you as if you weren’t wearing anything!
